V8 Program Desktop Startup Shortcuts - Internal Macro

Q - In Elliott V7, we can force Elliott to start up and go directly to a specific program. We can do this by adding the menu positions to the shortcut - ie:, "EL700.EXE 07 0315 0201" would open up into Shipping Verification. I think this feature is called an "Internal Macro."

Is there something similar in V8?

A - Do not use EL800.EXE.  Instead, you should use EL800P.EXE as short-cut to start up. The following are examples that compare the differences between how V7 and V8 perform the same startup short-cut function.

M:\ELLIOTT7\EL700.EXE 07 0315 0201
M:\ELLIOTT7\BIN\ EL800P.EXE 07 0315 0201

Just FYI, the first parameter refers to the module -- e.g., "07" would be Customer Order Processing:

  • 01 - General Ledger
  • 02 - Accounts Receivable
  • 03 - Accounts Payable
  • 04 - Payroll
  • 05 - Bank Book
  • 06 - Inventory Management
  • 07 - Customer Order Processing
  • 08 - Purchase Order
  • 09 - Bill of Material and Production Order
The first part ("03") of the "0315" refers to Processing:

  • 01 - Maintenance
  • 02 - Inquiry
  • 03 - Processing
  • 04 - Reports
  • 05 - Graph (This is obsoleted)
  • 06 - Utility
The second part ("15") of the "0315" refers to the menu item 15 under the "Processing" section, which refers to "Pick/Pack Tickets & Ship Labels."

Using the same principle, "0201" is the "Shipping Verification" function under the "Pick/Pack Tickets & Ship Labels" sub menu.
