Feature - Group Location Security

Release Date - 11/25/2014
This feature introduces a way to control security based on who can see what location.

For example, if a company has set up multiple warehouse locations but management does not necessarily want the salesmen to see all locations, then implementing group location security will resolve this issue.

To address this situation, we have introduced the following concepts:
    Group
    Group Location

A Group can be a group of salesmen, warehouse employees, sales managers, warehouse supervisors, admin.,.etc.

The Group Location controls the warehouse locations that can be accessed by the group.

Each user can belong to one or multiple groups. If a user does not belong to a group, then that user is not subject to group location control. This allows Elliott to be backward-compatible for other Elliott users who do not implement the group location security. The same principle applies when a user does belong to a group but no group location record is defined for that group. Then that user will not be subject to group location security control. Since a user can belong to multiple groups, Elliott will use the combined location list.

For example, user EDWARD belongs to the Shipping Group. He also belongs to the Receiving Group.
The Shipping Group can access the following locations:
A
B
C

The Receiving Group can access the following locations:
B
C
D

Therefore, the user EDWARD can access the following locations:
A
B
C
D

To use this function, you must first create Groups and then assign the warehouse locations for each group.
To do this go to Util-Setup-> Password Setup-> Global Security-> Group Users

In this function, you can add, change and delete groups, as well as print a list of the groups. You can't delete a group that's already being referenced in other tables.

Next, assign a warehouse location to each group. To do this go to Util-Setup-> Password Setup-> Global Security-> Group Locations.

In this function, you can define the locations that can be accessed by the group. An edit list will be provided. If a group is not defined with a location, then it implies that the group can access all locations.

Once the groups and group locations are set up, you must enable Group/Location Security from Util-Setup-> Password Setup-> Global Security-> Group Locations. Choose the option Group/Location Security-On from the menu.
