Item Last Received Date Not Updated When Received from I/M Transaction Processing

Release Date: 09/28/2017

Q
- Based on my observation, if we receive item from Inventory Transaction Processing as an "R" (Receiving) type, then the item last received date will not be updated. See sample screen below for the field.  Why is that?

A - The main reason why I/M receiving does not update the Item Last Received Date is because the I/M Receiving Transaction is mostly used for “Inventory Adjustment” purposes. Therefore, receiving from I/M should not update the Item Last Received Date. Generally speaking, the item last received date is updated through the Purchase Order module when the receiving transaction is posted.

Also, as of 3/11/2016, Elliott will also update the item date last received when produced from a BOMP production work order.  See the following article for more details:

You may also use this utility at Global Setup -> Utilities -> I/M Utilities -> Utilities -> Generate Statistic Info -> Generate -> Recalc Item Date 1st and Last Recv. This utility resets the item Date First Received and Last Received based on the Inventory Transaction Audit Trail file. Inventory Transaction Audit Trail file is used for a lot of statistical information calculations, therefore, we suggest keeping a reasonable amount of history in the Inventory Transaction Audit Trail file (e.g., 3 years).
