Feature - Tie Material Work Order Component's Serial Number to Parent's Serial Number

Release Date - 1/29/19

This feature allows a serialized parent to assume the serial number of its serialized component. This feature is enabled through Global Set-> Dist-> BOMP Global Control-> Screen 6-> Field 18. Use Component Serial No. for Parent Serial No.?

18. Use Component Serial No. for Parent Serial No.? - The default value is N.

Add Mode

If this Global Setup flag is enabled, then during the material work order production transaction processing Add mode, the application will first prompt for the components and their serial number(s).

If there is only one serialized component and the issue component quantity is equal to the parent quantity completed multiplied by the component quantity per parent, then the application will automatically create the parent serial number to be the same as the component's serial number without prompting.

If there is more than one serialized component or the component quantity is not equal to the parent quantity completed multiplied by the component quantity per parent, then the system will still prompt for the parent item's serial number(s).

Change Mode

If this Global Setup flag is enabled, then during the material work order production transaction processing Change mode, the application will first prompt for the components and their serial number(s).

If there is only one serialized component and the issue component quantity is equal to the parent quantity completed multiplied by the component quantity per parent, then the application will not prompt for the parent serial numbers.

If there is more than one serialized component or the component quantity is not equal to the parent quantity completed multiplied by the component quantity per parent, then the system will still prompt for the parent item's serial number(s).

The application does consider the possibility that component serial number may be changed and require adjustment of the parent serial number if necessary.

Additional Components

If this Global Setup flag is enabled and additional serialized components are added during production transaction processing, the user will be required to enter the parent serial number.
