Feature - Inventory Snapshot

Release Date - 2/11/16

A new option, Create Inventory Snapshot, has been added to the IM -> Reports -> Stock Status Report -> Stock Status by Item/prod cat.  See sample screen below:

Answering Yes to the prompt will create a "snapshot" of inventory at the time that the report is run. Financial departments like to do this at the end of the month to save the inventory valuation detail to reconcile with General Ledger.

Before this enhancement, users can accomplish this through the Freeze Inventory application and print the Frozen Stock Status report. But the freeze function provides only one snapshot and the next freeze will override the previous freeze. With the new snapshot function, you can have as many snapshots as you want.

This option is not available when printing the report in product category order or if you choose the F1=Enter by Individual Item No when entering the starting item number.

This snapshot can be created many times and will store the data printed on the Stock Status report. This information is stored in two new tables, IMSSIHDR and IMSSIDTL.

A new Snapshot Stock Status report will print this captured data. A new option has been added to the Inventory Management-> Reports-> Stock Status Reports menu.

When choosing this option, the user will pick which snapshot should be used to generate the report.

The available snapshots are shown in descending order with the latest snapshot listed first. This selection screen also shows all of the report options that were used when the snapshot was generated. The report will print inventory quantities from the time of the snapshot and not the current inventory values. Once a snapshot is chosen, the snapshot options are returned to the report parameter screen.

The report parameter screen shows the chosen snapshot and the parameters default to the ones chosen when the snapshot was originally created.

The report options can be changed, but the program will only print data from the snapshot. For example, if option 9. Exclude Obsolete Item defaulted to Y. If this option is changed to N, obsolete items will not print on the report because they were not captured when the snapshot was created. In this case, the user will see the following warning:

If the snapshot was created for all items and the user runs the report for only one item, the user will not receive a warning and the report will print the requested information since the item should be available in the captured data.
