Feature - Initialize User-Defined Note, Date and Amount Fields When Using F3 to Copy Item
In Item File Maintenance, Change mode, at the Item Number field, users can press F3 key to copy an item. See sample screen below.
Currently, the Copy Item function will copy most of the fields from the original item to the new item. The system will initialize the following fields when copying to a new item:
- ITEM-DATE-LAST-ACCESS
- ITEM-QUANTITY-ON-HAND
- ITEM-QUANTITY-ALLOCATED
- ITEM-QTY-BO
- ITEM-QUANTITY-ON-ORDER
- ITEM-DATE_LAST-SOLD
- ITEM-QTY-LAST-SOLD
- ITEM-QTY-SOLD-PTD
- ITEM-SALES-PTD
- ITEM-COST-PTD
- ITEM-QTY-SOLD-YTD
- ITEM-SALES-YTD
- ITEM-COST-YTD
- ITEM-QTY-RETURNED-YTD
- ITEM-PRIOR-YEAR-SALES
- ITEM-USAGE-PTD
- ITEM-USAGE-YTD
- ITEM-PRIOR-YEAR-USAGE
- ITEM-AVERAGE-USAGE
- ITEM-STARTING-SALES-DATE
- ITEM-ENDING-SALE-DATE
- ITEM-SALE-PRICE
- ITEM-LOW-LEVEL-CODE
- ITEM-ACTIVE-ORDERS
- ITEM-MRP-MULT-LOC-QTY-OH
- ITEM-DATE-LAST-COUNTED
- ITEM-FRZ-QTY-ON-HAND
- ITEM-FRZ-COST
- ITEM-INVENTORY-AGE-DATES
- ITEM-DATE-LAST-OUT-OF-SOTCK
- ITEM-DATE-FIRST-RECEIVED
- ITEM-DATE-LAST-RECEIVED
- ITEM-DATE-FIRST-SOLD
- ITEM-ROUTING-NO (if not found)
Some users also like to initialize the following fields:
- ITEM-NOTE-1
- ITEM-NOTE-2
- ITEM-NOTE-3
- ITEM-NOTE-4
- ITEM-NOTE-5
- ITEM-USER
You can set up the following new flags to "Y" in Global Setup -> Dist -> I/M Global Control, Screen 4:
1. Blank Non-UPC/Alt Mfg User Ref Flds When Copy Item?
2. Zero Item user Date Fld When Use F3 Copy Item?
3. Zero Item User Amount Fld When User F3 Copy Item?
See sample screen below.
Keep in mind that in addition the system will blank the UPC or Alt Mfg Item Number that's stored in ITEM-NOTE-1 to 5 fields depending on setup. Therefore the flag "1. Blank Non-UPC/Alt Mfg User Ref Flds When Copy Item?" only controls the behavior of other ITEM-NOTE-? fields.
