VICS BOL - Customer and Carrier Not in Balance Message
Version: 7.5 & Up
Q - In VICS Bill of Lading user interface, an order's package quantity should be 12, not 1. When I modify it and try to print the BOL, I receive the following message:
Customer and Carrier Not in Balance - Cannot Print BOL 101375256
What does this mean?
See sample screen below:
A - In the VICS BOL design, we allow multiple POs and multiple types of
user-defined codes (UDC or product class) on a single BOL. If you look at the
VICS BOL layout, there are two kinds of details broken down: (1) By PO; (2) By
product class (or UDC). See sample screen below. The total qty by PO and by UDC
need to match. If the user modifies the quantity of, say, the PO but does not
modify the other (i.e., UDC), then you have a mismatch and hence this
message. The “customer” refers to the PO area and “carrier” refers to the
UDC area.
In the BOL user interface, you can find two different F? keys to allow you to modify these two different types of details. Normally, if you create the BOL from SO without modifying it, the (1) and (2) will match and you won’t have this issue. But if you choose to manually modify the BOL qty, then you must modify quantities of both (1) and (2) to make them match.
