Why Elliott 8.6 Does Not Prompt "Are Invoices Just Printed OK?"
Version: 8.6 & Up
Q - When invoicing on 8.6 we have noticed that Elliott no longer prompts us to answer the question YES/NO Did Invoices Print OK? Is there a setup flag we can turn on? We really need the ability to say no.
A - We did eliminate the "Are Invoices Just Printed OK?" question after invoices printed with V8.6. You still may void the invoice if you discover errors before posting. Void Invoice can be processed from two places:
- COP -> Processing -> Print Invoice -> Void.
- COP -> Utility -> Void Invoice
- Support automation of invoicing: In 8.6, users may set up deferred processing to print invoices automatically and email invoices to customers. Since deferred processing is not interactive, we can't support a user interface to prompt if the invoice just printed was okay.
- Preventing fraud --- In point-of-sales business transactions (counter sales), users may print invoices and receive money, but answer that invoice printing is not OK then delete (or change) the order. This "Void" feature is controlled from security setup.
- Prevent file locking --- In an environment where multiple users are printing invoices, if one of the users forgets to answer the question after an invoice is printed, it will prevent other users from printing invoices.
- Invoice does not jam anymore - The original reason behind this prompt was because invoices used to be printed with multiple copies on dot matrix printers. If the invoice form was aligned incorrectly or the printer jammed, the user typically had to re-print the invoices. With all users migrating to laser printers, and since invoices can be printed to PDF and emailed, there are fewer and fewer reasons to continue to prompt users to answer this question. Many Elliott users no longer print physical invoice copies. This not only saves paper and trees but also eliminates the need for storage space for hard copies of invoices.
