Feature - Hiding or Unhiding PowerSearches

Release Date: 2/29/2024
Elliott Version: 8.6 and Higher

Background

PowerSearch allows Elliott users to have new, customizable search options.  While this is generally beneficial, not all users will want to take advantage of this feature.  This article describes how any individual user can specify that they only want legacy search windows, effectively hiding all PowerSearches.

Hiding PowerSearches

If a user has the ability to run PowerSearches, pressing F7 could bring up a list of searches like the following:

If you want to hide all Elliott PowerSearches going forward, click on the button at the bottom right of the dialog (see red box above).  This will bring up a confirmation dialog like this:

Press the Yes button to hide all PowerSearches going forward.  Once that is done, pressing F7 on the same screen will bring up only the legacy option(s) for searching.

Restoring Hidden PowerSearches

If you decide later that you want to start using PowerSearches, you must follow this procedure:
  1. Edit your computer's Registry.  You may need an administrator to help with this.
  2. Go to: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NETcellent\Elliott\8.0\PowerSearch\Preferences
  3. Set the String Value LegacyOnly to No.
